Thursday 5th April 2012
Our U15 team secured their place in the Cup Final with a comprehensive win over a gallant Clon side on a scoreline of 37 - 7 and now proceed to meet Bantry who overcame Cork Con. That final is also fixed for the 15th April in the PBC grounds near Dennehy's Cross in Cork City with a 12.00 noon KO. Support for both the U15 and the J1 teams would be much appreciated.
Skibbereen U15 triumph in South Munster Final
Last Saturday great crowds travelled to Cork to see our U15's take on Cork Con in the South Munster League Final. The venue was Highfield early in the morning but circumstances dictated the game would have to be played in Temple Hill or postponed until April. Not to be deterred and following a great build-up to the final, Skibbereen conceded home venue and decided to take them on on their own turf. In the end the right decision and they emerged victorious on a scoreline of 9 - 3. There was great excitement and jubilation after the match as team Captain Eric O'Brien stepped forward to proudly accept the Cup from a Branch Official. No doubt there will be a more indebt report on the Star next week.
