Munster Players Visit

There was great excitement around the Clubhouse on Wednesday 31st July 2013 last as loads of supporters turned up to greet the visit of not one or even two but eight MunsterPlayers - including the newly appointed captain Peter O'Mahony. This was all part of a powerful PR exercise on the part of the Munster Branch who really went to great lengths to ensure Club players,Coaches, Underage and Minis sections all got the opportunity to meet their hereos up front.   Different groups of players went off in all directions and targetted as many outlying Clubs as was possible to fit in over a period of a few days. The group covering Skibbereen, Bantry, Muskerry, Cork, and Youghal were as follows.

  1. Stephen Archer
  2. Duncan Casey
  3. Andrew Conway
  4. Casey Laulala
  5. Johne Murphy
  6. Peter O ‘ Mahony
  7. Donnacha Ryan
  8. Paddy Ryan

All arrived on time around 1.30pm  and its fair to say they were totally bowled over when they entered the upstairs Lounge to see the throng of people to greet them. Impressed they certainly were and to their eternal credit for the time they spent with us, all the players went out of their way to be friendly,  courtuous and accommodating to everyone and anyone and posed repeatedly for photographs as well as signing autographs. Afterwards they went  down to the training pitch and took part in some fun and games with the Minis and Underage and demonstrated their rugby skills also. So a grea time was had by all and even though it will be a while before we get to see so many Munster players together again in the same room it was memorable and uplifting - especially for the Minis and Underage who will cherish the time spent rubbing shoulders with their hereos.Well done to the organisers. I include a few photographs taken on the day - the photographs taken at the training session were provided by Paul Crosse - who also played a key  role in organising this event.
